Welcome Oxford Isis Korfball Club is a brand new club set up in 2007. We are looking to recruit people who are new to Korfball, so if you haven't played before, don't worry, there are other beginners too. All you need is to be able to run round a bit, and some hand/eye coordination is useful as well. Anyone who has played sports before can easily pick up the game.
We play all year round, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We compete in local league and cup competitions with clubs from Abingdon, Oxford University, Didcot, Reading & Milton Keynes, as well as tournaments around the country.
You've got this far and aren't sure what Korfball is?
Korfball is a unique mixed team sport that men and women play together, with similarities to netball, basketball, and handball, but very different. It's fast-moving and skillful, for players of all ages (we range from early 20s to 40s) and various abilities (no experience at all, to 15+ years), and it's competitive yet friendly.
Want to find out more or give it a go? Come to your first two sessions for FREE! Click HERE for directions to where we practice, and HERE to contact us for more information.

No experience needed, come along and try out a new sport for free! We will be training at the Botley football club ground on the Fogwell road from 7pm to 8.30pm. We train at Fogwell every Tuesday evening during the summer, then train indoors over the winter season at Matthew Arnold school (also on Tuesdays from 7 to 8.30pm). If you received a leaflet, please come along and join other beginners for a special training session where there will be plenty of other people who've never tried Korfball before. The emphasis will be on a relaxed and fun session that will introduce you to Korfball ! All you need are trainers or Astros and some tracksuit bottoms or similar loose fitting clothes so you can run/jog around during the session. |

Isis will be holding a Beginner/Inter-companies tournament on Saturday June 28th starting at 11am. All the OKA clubs are invited to enter teams of beginners, the tournament is designed specifically for beginners, with OKA clubs encouraged to ask their members to bring along people who have never played Korfball who are interested in giving it a try. Groups can be from your workplace, friends, etc, and you dont need a division of four, as we'll be matching up the teams and divisions on the day. You can just turn up on the day and be placed in a 'scratch' team along with one or two experienced players to help you out. Tuesday 24th will be a special beginner training session at Oxford Isis, so you can get an idea of the sport, but it won't be a requirement to attend that session, as all the rules will be explained on the day. There will be a BBQ and soft drinks available at lunch time. If you are interested in taking part send an email to

Isis had a long trip from Botley in West Oxford down to the Cowley Rd for Oxford City's tournament ! It was our first ever summer tournament, and we started with a win which was great. Then we had a match against a scratch team that didn't go so well, and wit a few seconds left hte scores were level. A penalty was awarded and the hooter immediately followed. A pressure penalty for Dom, but he scored to makes it two wins from two. The final pool match was against Bec, and Isis were outplayed, leaving us second in the group at the half way stage. The afternoon pool saw an OKA get togther, with Isis playing MK, Uni, and Abingdon. Things didn't go so well in the afternoon, with losses to MK and Uni, but we finished with a draw against Abingdon. Overall we came joint 7th from 16, so a pretty good result overall. |
